The beam can also be used on normal monsters that are found patrolling, targeting weak spots on their body. There was clearly a strong idea and lots of thought put into the games development, but a combination of cliched missions and predictable plot points make much of Gylt feel unnecessary and, unfortunately, not very rewarding. This can be used to open access to doorways, shining it on the monsters guarding it. Gylt, especially as Google Stadias only exclusive title available at launch, isnt really worth the price of admission. As you progress you get a upgrade to that light, allowing you to shine a tight beam. When I purchased the Founder’s Edition of Google’s Stadia one of the titles I was most excited about was Gylt, a Stadia exclusive launch title from the Madrid-based Tequila Works that was teased ahead of Google’s E3 2019 Stadia presentation. You have a torch to begin with and you can use this to see of course, but the monsters will detect you more easily. Obviously you will need to move around the barriers to progress to where you need to go. I think it’s good to have a family game that isn’t afraid to go dark in places, whilst collectibles are in place books you can pick up around the levels that add to the story.
